Special Session News #01: Special session to start this weekend

The 2016 First Extraordinary Session called by Gov. John Bel Edwards will begin at 4 p.m., Sunday, February 14. This special session is limited to topics identified in the governor's session call, which primarily focuses on legislation that impacts state revenue. The 25-day session will adjourn no later than 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 9.

The 2016 Regular Session will convene at noon, Monday, March 14 and adjourn no later than 6 p.m., Monday, June 6. This session is open to broader topics, including retirement-related bills. Twenty-seven bills affecting TRSL have already been filed.

For your information:Retirement bills are typically heard first in either the House or Senate retirement committees. The chair of the Sen. Retirement Committee is Sen.
