TRSL is the state's largest public retirement system, providing services and benefits to more than 160,000 individuals. Founded in 1936, TRSL is a governmental defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as a public trust fund to provide retirement benefits for its members. TRSL is funded by member and employer contributions and earnings from investments. TRSL is governed by a 16-member Board of Trustees.

Our goal is to provide exceptional member services, including accurate and timely benefit payments to all eligible retirees, beneficiaries, and survivors.

Using Our Website

Welcome to the TRSL website! The following information is intended to give you a basic overview of the organization of our website, and a few tips on commonly asked questions for the web beginner!

The TRSL website is organized into four main sections: My TRSL, Active Members, Retirees, and Employers. These areas can be easily accessed through the large colorful tabs located at the left side of the home page. Each section is color coded to make finding information quick and easy!

My TRSL
This area is designed to help you access the most popular self-service features on our website, including our forms, benefit calculators, and workshop information.

Members
The resources in the member section are intended for members who are currently working and contributing toward their retirement. This part of the website provides important information about your TRSL membership, including retirement eligibility requirements, benefit calculations, and upcoming retirement workshops

Retirees
In this section, retired members will find important information about their benefits and the retirement laws and regulations that apply to them, including Social Security reductions and return-to-work laws.

Employers
The employer section of this website includes resources for transmitting employer data, TRSL employer procedures, and training opportunities.

NOTE: In each of these sections, you will find a color-coded box on the left. This is a “menu” that lists each section’s content in more depth. Click on each topic to see more information choices.

New to Web Browsing?

Here are a few web browsing tips that will make your visit more productive and easy.

Can’t find what you need?

Use the site search box. The site search box is located at the upper right of each page. Simply type the topic you are looking for in the box and then click on the magnifying glass to the right of the box. This will take you to a list of related topics. The more specific you can be with your terms, the more specific your results will be.

Why is some text underlined?
Any text that is underlined is considered a “hyperlink” in web terminology. This simply means that if you click on the underlined word or words, you will be directed to another page for further information on that concept.

Is the type size too small?
You can adjust the size of the type for better viewing. There is a “change text size” function located below the TRSL logo on each page. Just click the letter "A" in various sizes to toggle between larger and smaller font sizes.

What if I have specific questions or need further help?
Click on the ASK TRSL button located on the bottom of the colored-coded menu in each section. You will be taken to a form that you can fill out and ask a specific question. You will receive a response from TRSL within two business days.

Want to go back to the web page you were previously on?
All web browsers have a “back” button. It’s usually located in the very upper-left corner of your web browser. Click it and it will take you to the last web page you were on. You can keep clicking it to go back further.

For general questions on navigating the web site or technical issues, just
Ask TRSL.
