​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​DISTRICTS 5 AND 6 ELECTIONS: Qualifying underway

Qualifying is underway for the District 5 and District 6 representatives on the Board of Trustees. The qualifying deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. 

If you are interested in representing your fellow TRSL members, you must first meet eligibility requirements and submit a letter of intent to qualify as a candidate.

Eligibility requirements:
  • You must be an active member of TRSL (includes members who are participating in DROP or working after DROP).
  • You must be employed in District 5 (Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Franklin, Jackson, Livingston, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Union, West Carroll, and West Feliciana parishes) or District 6 (Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Evangeline, Grant, Jefferson Davis, LaSalle, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St. Landry, St. Martin, Vernon, West Baton Rouge, and Winn parishes).

To qualify, you must send your letter of intent to TRSL by U.S. Certified Mail, U.S. Registered Mail, U.S. Express Mail, or other carrier that requires proof of delivery. The letter must be in TRSL's office by 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2024. To learn more, please review the Candidate FAQ

Elections by year

TRSL holds elections each year to fill the seats of trustees whose terms are expiring. Elected board members serve four-year terms.
  • ​​​​​​​2024 (For terms expiring 12/31/24): District 5 and District 6
  • 2025 (For terms expiring 12/31/25): School Food Service and Retirees
  • 2026 (For terms expiring 12/31/26): District 1, District 7, Retirees, Superintendents and Colleges/Universities
